Provision of Wheeled Bins for Kerbside Recycling of Plastic, Metal and Glass Recycling
At the most recent Shropshire Full Council meeting (13th January), a motion was passed for the Provision of Wheeled Bins for Kerbside Recycling of Plastic, Metal and Glass Recycling (agenda: https://shropshire.gov.uk/committee-services/documents/g4570/Agenda%20frontsheet%2013th-Jan-2022%2010.00%20Council.pdf?T=0)
This was a manifesto commitment last year, and was supported by all members.

The new bin will have a purple lid to help differentiate it from your other bins, and will replace your current boxes to make it easier for you to recycle your plastic, cans and glass (you will still need to use your blue sack to recycle paper and cardboard).
If you haven’t already done so, the new wheelie bin can be ordered online at https://shropshire.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish/order-a-bin-or-container/register-for-your-free-bin-for-recycling-plastic-cans-and-glass/
There is also an FAQ page about the bins at https://shropshire.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish/faqs-for-provision-of-a-240l-bin-for-plastic-cans-and-glass/

Estates Committee (Shifnal Town Council)
Last night I attended the STC Estates Committee meeting, held at the Community Hub. Several proposals were made for improvement of the hub itself, including car parking and signage.
Most importantly though, there was a very positive discussion about policing in Shifnal and the possibility of a police presence in the Town, located at the hub (formerly the police station).
Due to commercial sensitivity and because discussions are still taking place, I cannot provide details unfortunately. However it seems that both parties (the Town Council and West Mercia Police, and those representing the PCC) have both indicated support for the proposal. However this is subject to further meetings and details over accommodation, facilities and costs.
The benefit to residents, apart from the obvious physical police presence in the town, is that due to reduced commuting from Bridgnorth, the police will be able to spend an estimated additional one hour per day on actual policing in the Town and surrounding parishes including Tong and Albrighton.
Tong Parish Council
I am due to attend Tong Parish Council on Monday 24th January, 7pm at the Tong Parish Hall.
Agenda items include, commercial traffic in Hubbal Lane and the new travellers site adjacent to Stanton Road.
