110,000 people now vaccinated

More than 110,000 people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have now received the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Over 95% of people over the age of 75
- 84% of people aged between 70-75
Shropshire is still on track to vaccinate everyone in the first four priority groups.
Over the coming weeks, vaccinations will start in the next priority groups.
Shropshire Council’s Director of Public Health Rachel Robinson this week spoke to BBC Radio Shropshire about the vaccine rollout.
People aged 70 and over who’ve yet to be vaccinated and want to be, can now contact the NHS to arrange a jab.
Until now the NHS had asked people to wait until they were contacted, to help ensure that those who are most vulnerable are protected first – and that remains the case for people anyone aged under 70.
If you’re aged 70 or over, have yet to receive your invitation letter and want to arrange your vaccination at a location in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, you can now book online.
Those 65 years or over, are set to start receiving vaccination invites next week.
Vaccination sites in Shropshire
There are now a growing number of sites across the wider area offering vaccinations.

A thank you to our vaccine volunteers
Hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life are working hard to support the enormous task of vaccinating residents against COVID-19.They are the unsung heroes, and we would like to thank everyone for their efforts during the vaccine rollout.
The council and partners have helped over 200 residents get to their vaccine appointments.
Since the launch of this free transport service, 25 private organisations and community passenger groups have volunteered to help extend the service beyond the council’s own vehicle fleet.
If you or someone you know would benefit from this free service, contact the council via the COVID-19 helpline on 0345 678 9028 and select option 0.

There was a slight decrease (5%) in the number of positive cases across Shropshire in the last week.
While our numbers continue to fall, we’re not out of the woods just yet.
Over the past week, we have seen an increase in cases linked to both work places and care homes. To drive Shropshire’s rates down even further we need to continue sticking to the Hands, Face, Space rule and stay at home for all but essential reasons.
If you have symptoms, please self-isolate and organise to get tested.
Emergency access to library computers

People who need access to the internet for emergency purposes can now use computer facilities in a number of libraries across the county.
The access is in our larger libraries only, where spaces can be managed safely with COVID-19-secure measures in place. These are at:
| Bridgnorth | Market Drayton |
| Church Stretton | Oswestry |
| Ludlow | Shrewsbury |
Sessions must be booked in advance by contacting the relevant library. You can book a computer by contacting your local library.
