Donington with Boscobel Parish Council

Last night I attended Donington with Boscobel Parish Council at the The Red House in Albrighton.  On the agenda were the usual items found in practically all parish and town councils, planning applications, finance and spending. One of the main points of discussion though was the flooding around Albrighton which has blighted the village for a number of years, particularly under the bridge near the garden centre on the Newport Road.  Thankfully since Shropshire Council have employed a full time flood manager, things are improving and work has already begun on clearing the pipes of debris and tree roots.  Network rail will be removing the trees affecting the drainage and the next step is for contractors to get access to the MoD land at Cosford.

Additionally, a small amount of funding was agreed for works to continue in clearing the pool area and channels leading into the nature reserve.  Improving the flow of water and accessibility should reduce flood risk further down into Albrighton.
