Today, myself and Cllr. Kevin Turley met with Peter Nutting (leader of Shropshire Council), Steve Davenport (cabinet member for highways) and two officers, including the interim Head of Highways at Shropshire Council.
We showed them around Shifnal and Sheriffhales, pointing out various ongoing problems with roads and buildings:
- Aston Street car park and the poor work done to improve the pavement next to the co-op.
- Poor road layout at Aston Street junction.
- The broken wooden bollards in Cheapside.
- The derelict building in Market Place.
- Camber on the pavements leading into Shifnal not suitable for mobility scooters.
- Unadopted roads on Thomas Beddoes estate and the bad drainage there.
- We also spoke to the owner of Number 5 Coffee House and the problems caused by surface water on the road.
We requested that this work be addressed urgently. In addition I have asked that the town centre plan costs be made available to the Town Council as soon as possible so that works can be progressed.
